For the past three years Great British Care Awards nominee Aisori Gurung has brought warmth, dedication and expertise to her role as a domestic assistant here at Hampton Care Home.
Known for her exceptional work ethic, outstanding housekeeping skills and calm, patient demeanour, Aisori is a valued member of the team who goes above and beyond to help ensure that the home is as clean and well presented as possible. Aisori focuses on her work with quiet determination. Whether tackling a difficult task or going about her daily responsibilities, she approaches every challenge with a can-do attitude.
Her deputy manager describes her organisation and cleaning skills as “very impressive”, while home manager Justyna Kirihettige Don points to her uncomplaining behaviour and tendency to just get on with her work, even when she’s under pressure.
“She is amazingly kind and hard-working. She puts her heart into everything she does. You can see her sincerity and love for her work simply shining through. I can only describe her as a real asset to our home,” says Justyna.
Both managers praise Aisori’s ability and willingness to interact with residents on a daily basis. In fact, there are many instances of Aisori being prepared to help them out with small tasks then and there, when needed, rather than call a carer to do it. Justyna says: “I love to see her walking along the corridor guiding a confused resident.”
Residents appreciate her kindness. One resident remarks: “Aisori is very polite, respectful, thorough and always smiling! She is really good at what she does.” Relatives comment on her high standards, too, with one describing their loved one’s room as always “clean and tidy,” thanks to her hard work.
Aisori is a strong team player who regularly offers valuable suggestions for improving teamwork and achieving shared goals. Her colleagues respect her collaborative spirit. “She has earned the respect of the other housekeeping team members and become a powerful role model for them,” says a colleague.
